We love directly heated triodes for their sound, so why not put that sound in the driver circuit?

Single ended directly heated triodes (SEDHT's) have a transparency and tone that you just can't get anywhere else.  You see endless marketing claims of "sounds like a single ended directly heated tiode" because SEDHT's, when well built, are the reference.  In this amplifier creation, I decided to go for a two stage amplifier that was all SEDHT to have nothing but that pure sound.  Why don't other manufacturers do this?  Well, it adds considerable expense for the tubes as well as for an extra power supply that is required.  Also, it is difficult to get the noise level down, and therefore dynamic range up, without the use of feedback (the horror!).   But I was willing and anxious, so excitedly I forged ahead.   

When perusing the datasheets and comparing to curves and operating points form other amplifiers that I have built, I noticed that I could also employ the 300B in the output stage as well as the type 50.  This amazing coincidence is obviously a wonderful feature as it does allow for incredible tunability thanks to the abundance of modern 300b variants on the market today.  I tuned this amplifier on my vintage RCA compression driven horns using the RCA (of course) globe type 50, but your speaker/system needs may favor the TJ mesh 300b.  Listen and see!
